A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ACCEPTING A GRANT AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $140,000, CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD FROM THE UNITED
STATES ATTORNEY'S OFFICE, FOR SUPPLEMENTAL POLICING IN THE AREA
OF LIBERTY SQUARE OF THE MODEL CITY DISTRICT, WITH NO MATCHING
FUNDS BEING REQUIRED; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
THE REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN AGENCIES, IN SUBSTANTIALLY
THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ANY NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR THE
ADMINISTRATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Department of Police submitted a grant application to the
United States Attorney's Office to fund supplemental policing in the area of Liberty Square of the
Model City district; and
WHEREAS, on November 30, 2007, the City's Department of Police was noticed that the grant
was approved and awarded in an amount not to exceed $140,000, to fund the "Project Liberty"
initiative; and
WHEREAS, the funds will be used as reimbursement of $100,000, of overtime hours associated
with investigations conducted by an anti drug and violent crime task force and $40,000, for
community policing and patrol activities ("Project"); and
WHEREAS, no matching funds are required by the funder; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 07-0165, adopted March 22, 2007, requires City Commission
approval for any grant award exceeding $25,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Grant funds, in an amount not to exceed $140,000, consisting of a grant award from
the United States Attorney's Office, for the Project, are accepted.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the Reimbursement Agreement Between
Agencies as per the grant guidelines, in substantially the attached form, and any necessary
documents for the administration and implementation of said grant award.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor. {2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
