A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO INVESTIGATE THE FEASIBILITY OF ASKING MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY TO USE HYBRID VEHICLES AS PART OF ITS TAXI FLEET, WITHIN THE
NEXT THREE YEARS, WITH INCENTIVES AS STATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is directed to investigate the feasibility of asking Miami -Dade County
to use hybrid vehicles as part of its taxi fleet, while providing incentives such as providing cab drivers
who purchase hybrid vehicles with medallions at no charge, providing special programs or other
incentives to the jitney owners in the Little Haiti and Liberty City areas, and/or Miami -Dade County
purchasing the hybrid vehicles and allowing the drivers to payback the vehicles from the savings
accrued from the consumption of less fuel.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}
Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
