A. Describe the History and Structure of your company
Granicus provides comprehensive solutions to more than 220 local government agencies for creating, managing
and distributing live and on -demand streaming media content to support and enhance public meeting
communications, internal training and public education programs exclusively for Cities and Counties.
Granicus is a privately held California Corporation based in San Francisco. Founded iri 1999; Granicus is the
leading provider of streaming media and minutes annotation solutions to local government. Granicus currently
webcasts over 400 public meetings for local government per month, substantially than any other company.
Granicus is dedicated exclusively to the specific needs of these public agencies and public meetings. Because of
our dedication to this market niche, you wilt not see any corporate, educational or media clients listed on our
website, thus allowing Granicus to focus all of its resources on the very specific needs of Counties and Cities.
This unique focus has allowed us to develop many distinctive innovations related solely to the streaming of
public meetings, which have helped our clients operate more efficiently, saving them time and money. In
addition, we have developed relationships with a number of prominent technology providers that serve the local
government market in order to provide integrated solutions that further automate the legislative workflow.
These solutions include a docurnent management and electronic agenda work flow integration with our
MinuteMaker'" module, the development of an integrated public meeting voting system and a mobile encoding
solution for annotating meeting minutes outside the Board chambers.
Finally, below you will find a brief discussion of the key differentiators that separate Granicus from other
companies attempting to provide streaming solutions to local government agencies. The majority of these
companies, which may also respond to this did, have been working in the local government streaming industry
for at least as long as Granicus. However, their solutions have not been embraced and accepted by the market
place for good reason.
Key Differentiators
Security: Roles -based security rnay be implemented to allow certain content to be viewed by certain individuals
Fixed Costs: The solution may be utilized for all public meetings (no matter how many you have and no matter
how long they are) for one fixed price.
Searchable Archives: Alt agendas, minutes and supporting documentation can be stored and available for
retrieval from the Granicus system
Document Linking: All minutes, agendas and back-up materials (e.g. staff reports) ire linked with the video
Granicus inc. -4-
Enterprise Architecture: All departments (e.g. fire department, HR, etc.) have the ability to log intro and use
the Granicus system from any computer in the world.
Linked Minutes: The ability to link board minutes to the digital recording, allowing more context -sensitive
research and review of those meetings.
Single Video File: Each Granicus archive is a single Windows Media file allowing for srnooth continuous flow of
the meeting.
Quick Turn -around: An on -demand archive is indexed and available for playback as soon as the file is
transferred from the on•site encoder to our distribution servers. No waiting around for a third party to manually
index the meeting.
On -Site Storage and Distribution: Store and distribute your content both on the County's network and with the
Granicus MediaCenter'''. Staff retrieves content locally and the citizens access the content through the
MediaCenter. This architecture conserves your bandwidth.
Minutes Annotation Tool:. The Granicus Solution is expandable to include the minutes annotation tool
(MinutesMaker"") that can save your clerks 20% to 80% of the time it currently takes to annotate meetings.
