In 1989 I started my professional career as an Assistant State Attorney here in Miami -Dade County working for Janet Reno. As a Prosecutor 1 worked hand ihand with many Police Officers from The City of Miami and other jurisdictions. Since leaving the State Attorney's Office in 1992, I have been self-employed as a Criminal Defense Attorney primarily in State Court at the Richard E. Gerstein, Metropolitan Justice Building. 1 have tried over 125 criminal jury trials to Verdict as both a Prosecutor and as a Defender. My career brings me in contact with numerous Police Officers and I have had the opportunity to learn many aspects of proper police procedure and professional standards. I believe that my 18 years of dealing with Police Officers from the crime scene to the jury trial, gives me unique expertise that will be of benefit to the Panel. Question 7 Why do you wish to serve on the CIP? have lived in the City of Miami for 21 years. I believe a City is only as strong as the people who work for it. I believe my experience can help make our City a stranger more vibrant place to live. By giving the citizens a public independent investigative crganization we show the community that the City Government is open to the people for the benefit of the public, and not a shadowy organization trying to hide its faults behind closed doors.
