The department is continuing its efforts to educate the youth of our community on the dangers of gang
involvement. The Gang Resistance Education and Training (O.R.E.A.T.) program provides this
opporttmity by targeting elementary and middle school students within the City of Miami teaching them
the skills needed to avoid gang pressure and youth violence. The program's curriculum helps police
officers teach the students how to deal with peer pressure, gang resistance, conflict resolution and
makes them aware of their responsibilities.
