HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 07-01142 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT FUNDING, IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $33,244, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA, OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, TASK FORCE ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, FROM THE VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT (VOCA) GRANT PROGRAM; ALLOCATING THE REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $8,311, IN THE FORM OF IN -KIND SERVICES FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENT OF POLICE, FOR A TOTAL PROJECT COST NOT TO EXCEED $41,555, FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF SERVICES TO CRIME VICTIMS; APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS INTO SPECIAL REVENUE FUND 12000.191602.434000.0000.00000; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") submitted a grant application to the State of Florida, Office of the Attorney General, Task Force on Domestic and Sexual Violence, to fund services provided to crime victims; and WHEREAS, on August 8, 2007, the City received notification that said application was approved for funding in the amount not to exceed $33,244, for Fiscal Year 2007-2008, to fund said services; and WHEREAS, said funds would be appropriated into Special Revenue Fund 12000.191602.434000.0000.00000; and WHEREAS, the City Department of Police will provide the required twenty-five percent (25%) match of an amount not to exceed $8,311, in the form of in -kind services towards the salaries and necessary expenses for the operation of this program; and WHEREAS, this Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute the necessary documents to implement the acceptance of and the administration of said grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized(1) to accept funding, in the amount not to exceed $33,244, consisting of a grant from the State of Florida, Office of the Attorney General, Task Force on Domestic Violence, from the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant Program. The required matching funds, in the amount not to exceed $8,311, is allocated, in the form of in -kind services from the City Department of Police, for a total project cost not to exceed $41,555, for the enhancement of the quality of services to crime victims. Section 3. Said funds are appropriated into Special Revenue Fund 12 000.191602.4 34 000.0000.00000. Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized{1} to execute the Grant Agreement, in substantially the attached form, and all necessary documents to implement the acceptance of and administration of said grant. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: JOP RNANDEZ k ; C itY`4TT9R NEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
