In accordance with Section 40-193 (a)(1Xd) of the Miami Code, I am forwarding
the names of the following six (6) individuals for your consideration to fill the positions
held by Joseph Kaplan, Esq. and Monica Fernandez, C.P.A. on the City of Miami
Firefighters' and Police Officers' Retirement Trust. Mr. Joseph Kaplan has practiced law
in South Florida for decades and is well versed in employee pension matters. Over the
past four years he has demonstrated great dedication to the City and its employees while
serving on the Board. Monica Fernandez is a Certified Public Accountant for Mahoney
Cohen and Co. and has been serving on the Pension Board for the last 6 years. She has
shown great dedication and brings a wealth of knowledge in financial matters. We
encourage you to consider both Mr. Kaplan's and Ms. Fernandez' experience and
expertise in making your decision, and see the wisdom in re -appointing them to the
Board.
