Thompson City Clerk Subj ect: Equal Opportunity Advisory Board References: September 11, 2007 Agenda Enclosures: List of members The Equal Opportunity Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to the Department of Human Resources. Three (3) appointments are required at this time: • Chairman Gonzalez has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Vacancy (due to the resignation of Albena Sumner).* 2. Miriam Urra, incumbent and whose term expired May 10, 2007, has exceeded the number of allowed absences (5 absences in 2006, and 6 in 2007) and would require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance. • Vice Chairman Sanchez has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. Rebeca Alvarez -Mena, incumbent, has exceeded the number of allowed absences (7 absences in 2007) and would require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the September 11, 2007 Commission agenda. *This matter was deferred from the December 14, 2006, February 8, 2007, May 10, 2007 and June 14, 2007 Commission meetings.
