Subject: TRANSFERRING FUNDS TO CENTRO MATER CHILD CARE SERVICES INC.
Purpose of Item:
TRANSFERRING THE BALANCE OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ("CDBG")
FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,175.00, PREVIOUSLY ALLOCATED TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES
OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF MIAMI, INC. /CENTRO MATER CHILD CARE CENTER; ASSIGNING
SAID FUNDS TO CENTRO MATER CHILD CARE SERVICES, INC. TO BE USED FOR THE
PROVISION OF CHILD CARE SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
AN AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM(S), WITH CENTRO MATER
CHILD CARE SERVICES, INC., FOR SAID PURPOSE.
Background Information:
Pursuant to Resolution No. 06-0373, adopted June 8, 2006, the City Commission approved the
allocation of $50,000 of Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds to Catholic Charities
of the Archdiocese of Miami, Inc./ Centro Mater Childcare Center for the provision of child care
services.
On March 8, 2007, the Board of Directors of Centro Mater Child Care Services, Inc. approved
corporate resolutions to accept the oversight of Centro Mater programs and approved the
assumption of management responsibilities by Catholic Health Services, Inc. and to enter into a
contract under the new management with the City of Miami, to be effective July 1, 2007.
The administration recommends the transfer of the balance of CDBG funds, in the amount of
$11,175.00, previously allocated to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami, Inc./Centro Mater
Childcare Center and the assignment of said funds to the Centro Mater Child Care Services, Inc., to
be used for the provision of child care services.
