Subject: Resolution authorizing City Manager to execute necessary documents for transfer of funds.
Purpose of Item:
Resolution of the City of Miami Commission authorizing the City Manager to execute the necessary J
documents for the transfer of funds from the Mayor's Poverty Initiative to Americorps VISTA
(Volunteers In Service To America), allocating funds from project 119005-250103-9-956 to
110146.098002.8.436 in an amount not to exceed $80,000 for FY 2007-2008. This transfer will
provide match funding for an existing grant from the Corporation for National and Community
Service to provide up to 18 AmeriCorps*VISTA members to serve at community -based organizations
in the City of Miami.
Background Information:
The City of Miami Office of Grants Administration ("OGA") has received a renewal grant from the
Corporation to support this program that places a service corps in the City's five commission districts
to provide capacity -building for the organizations through grant writing, resource development,
volunteer management, and linkages to City of Miami financial literacy programs.
