Subject: Resolution authorizing City Manager to execute necessary documents for transfer of funds.
Purpose of Item:
Resolution of the City of Miami Commission authorizing the City Manager to execute the necessary
documents for the transfer of funds from the Mayor's Poverty Initiative to Americorps VISTA
(Volunteers In Service To America), allocating funds from project 119005-250103-9-956 to
110146.098002.8.436 in an amount not to exceed $80,000 for FY 2006-2007, appropriating funds in
the amount of $27,000 for FY 2005-2006 (covering June 1 to September 30, 2006) and appropriating
funds in the amount of $53,000 for FY 2006-2007 (covering October 1, 2006 to May 31, 2007). This
transfer will provide match funding for an existing grant from the Corporation for National and
Community Service to provide up to 18 AmeriCorps*VISTA members to serve at community -based
organizations in the City of Miami. •
Background Information:
The City of Miami Office of Grants Administration ("OGA") has received a grant from the
Corporation to support this program that places a service corps in the City's five commission districts
to provide capacity -building for the organizations through grant writing, resource development,
volunteer management, and linkages to City of Miami financial literacy programs.
