A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
("CONTRACT") WITH FLORIDA ROOFING SOLUTIONS INC., TO PROVIDE FOR
ADDITIONAL SERVICES REQUIRED FOR ROOF STORM WATER PIPING AND
SUPPORTS, FOR THE PROJECT ENTITLED "REROOFING OF FIRE STATION NO.
4," PROJECT B-72802 ("PROJECT"), INCREASING THE CONTRACT BY AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $3,150, FROM $177,000, TO AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $180,150; ALLOCATING FUNDS FOR SAID INCREASE FROM CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT B-72802; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE CONTRACT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE
ATTACHED FORM, FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the Department of Capital Improvements and Transportation ("Department") issued
Invitation for Bids No. 04-05-101 (Emergency), for the provision of roofing services ("Services") for the
"Reroofing of Fire Station No. 4," Project B-72802 ("Project"), conducted in compliance with the Code
of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended; and
WHEREAS, Florida Roofing Solutions Inc., the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, was
selected to provide the Services for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") and Florida Roofing Solutions Inc. ("Contractor") entered
into an Agreement on March 23, 2006; and
WHEREAS, the Contractor and the City identified the need for storm water piping; and
WHEREAS, this piping was not identified in the design documents utilized during the bid process
and was not included in the original scope of work and now it is necessary to add this work to the
Contractor's scope of work; and
WHEREAS, the negotiated fee associated with the additional work is an amount not to exceed
$3,150; and
WHEREAS, Amendment No. 1 increases the Contractor's scope of work to include the piping and
supports and increases the Contractor's fee from $177,000, to an amount not to exceed $180,150;
and
WHEREAS, funds for the stated purpose will be allocated from the Capital Improvement Project
("CIP") B-72802;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. An increase in the Construction Contract ("Contract") with the Contractor for additional
services required to fund roof storm water piping and supports, for the Project, in an amount not to
exceed $3,150, increasing the amount of the contract from $177,000, to an amount not to exceed
$180,150, is authorized, with funds allocated for said increase, from CIP B-72802.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Contract, in
substantially the attached form, for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
