AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM,
WITH ALLSTATE BUILDING AND REMODELING, COMPANY FOR THE REHABILITATION OF A SIX (6) UNIT CITY
OWNED APARTMENT BUILDING LOCATED AT 1371 N.W. 61'T STREET; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR SAID PURPOSE.
Purpose of Item:
Background Information:
Pursuant to Resolution No. 04-0268, adopted April 22, 2004, the City Commission approved the acquisition of four properties including
1371 N.W. 813'; purchased from Joseph and Barbara Wiggins for the purchase amount of $158,000 on behalf of the Model City Community
Revitalization District Trust.
Upon dissolving of the Trust, the City took control of said property with the intent to rehabilitate it and make available 6 affordable rental
units for low income families; this property will be transferred to a not -for profit agency to manage and maintain after the rehabilitation Is
complete.
On May 10, 2007 the City Issued an Invitation for 81ds for the rehabilitation of the building located at 1371 N.W. 61*.
On May 25, 2007, the City Clerk received sealed bids from 4 local general contracting companies.
After reviewing each proposal, the City determined that Allstate Building and Remodeling, Company submitted the lowest and most
responsive in the amount of $224,950,
Payment will be made using affordable housing trust funds for multi rental- no tax credit as approved by Resolution No. 07-0226 on April
12, 2007.
Allstate Building and Remodeling, Company is a State of Florida registered general contractor since May 15, 2006.
The principals of the company are Magaly Marrero, Raul Marrero and Carmen Sueiro.
Allstate Building and Remodeling, Company is in good standing with the City of Miami.
