A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW
SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "SOUTH FLORIDA HIGH INTENSITY
DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA ("HIDTA") VIOLENT CRIMES AND DRUG
TRAFFICKING ORGANIZATION AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, CONSISTING
OF TWO GRANT AWARDS, FROM THE SOUTH FLORIDA HIDTA, IN THE
AMOUNTS OF $30,000 AND $5,000, FOR A TOTAL GRANT AWARD IN THE
AMOUNT OF $35,000' AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF
SAID GRANT AWARDS.
WHEREAS, the Department of Police will implement strategies to reduce drug trafficking and
related crime in the specific geographic areas of the City of Miami ("City"); and
WHEREAS, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ("HIDTA") Violent Crimes and Drug
Trafficking Organization, has approved two grant awards in the amounts of $30,000 and $5,000, to be
used to reduce or eliminate factors leading to drug abuse, to nurture and develop indigenous
leadership to assist residents in attaining self sufficiency in "at risk" communities; and
WHEREAS, no matching funds are required from the City as a condition of said grants; and
WHEREAS, any purchases would have to comply with applicable purchasing requirements of the
Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as
described below:
FUND TITLE: South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area
("HIDTA") Violet Crimes and Drug Trafficking Organization
RESOURCES: South Florida HIDTA $35,000
APPROPRIATION: Overtime expenses for the operation of same $35,000

Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents to implement.
the acceptance of said grant awards.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

Footnotes:
{1) The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
