ATTRACTIONS AND RECREATION FACILITIES There are two types of attractions and recreation facilities included in increment II: multiple movie theaters with 15,000 total seats and a baseball stadium with 45,000 seats. Each type of facility is addressed individually. Baseball Stadium A. What is the projected high, low, and average daily attendance at the facility? Specify the season if applicable. Complete Figures 32.1A- 32.3B. The projected high daily attendance is 45,000 persons per game. The projected average daily attendance is 25,000 persons per game. The projected Bow daily attendance is 15,000 persons per game. A stadium facility used exclusively by a major league baseball club would operate from the beginning of April through the end of September and possibly through an October post -season. The baseball season consists of eighty- one (81) regular season home games, and potentially as many as eleven (11) post -season games. Figure 32.1A, Monthly Distribution of Attendance for a Baseball Stadium, details which, months the facility will be used. Figure 32.2A, Daily Distribution of Attendance for a aseball Stadium, estimates the attendance levels for baseball games on a weekly basis. It assumes that games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday have higher attendance than weeknight games. Low, average, and high attendance figures are given for each weekday. The typical baseball season schedule includes approximately thirteen to fifteen games per month to be played on any day of the week. Figure 32.3A.1, Peak Day Hourly Distribution of Attendance by Arrival, relates the projected arrival patterns of game spectators for maximum capacity games, for both day and evening games with start times of 1PM and 7PM respectively. Figure 32.3A.2, Peak Day Hourly Distribution of Attendance by Departure, relates the projected departure patterns of game spectators for maximum capacity games, for both day and evening games with start times of 1PM and 7PM respectively. Estimate the number of customers utilizing transportation other than automobile to reach the region and the site. Specify the transportation systems and facilities to be utilized, their location, present and planned capacities. Assuming the stadium will be built in the CBD, the percentage of spectators utilizing transportation other than automobiles is estimated to be 32.6 percent (see Table 21.C1, Transit and Pedestrian Mode Splits) The transportation systems to be utilized are pedestrian facilities, metro buses, the metrorail, and the metromover. Map H in Question 9, Maps, details the location of the metrorail and metromover. C. if any transportation systems and facilities are to be owned, operated, or managed by the applicant, specify how these interface with other systems and facilities in the region. The applicant will not own any transportation systems or facilities. Movie Theater A. What is the projected high, low, and average daily attendance at the facility? Specify the season if applicable. Complete Figures 32.1- 32.3. One theater with 5,000 seats is projected for each area of the DDRI: Omni, CBD, and Brickell, for a total of three theaters and 15,000 movie theater seats. The projected high daily attendance for one 5,000-seat theater complex is 14,000 movie patrons. The projected average and low attendance per theater is 9,000 and 6,000 persons respectively. The combined average projected attendance for all three theaters with 15,000 total seats is 27,000 persons. B. Estimate the number of customers utilizing transportation other than automobile to reach the region and the site. Table 21.C1, Transit and Pedestrian Mode Splits, in Question 21, Transportation, details the standards used for determining the percentage of movie patrons walking or using transit. For the movie theater projected for the Omni area, the percentage of movie patrons utilizing transportation other than automobiles is estimated to be 24.9 percent. For the movie theater projected for the CBD, the percentage of movie patrons utilizing transportation other than automobiles is estimated to be 32.6 percent. For the movie theater projected for the Brickell area, the percentage of movie patrons utilizing transportation other than automobiles is estimated to be 29.1 percent.
