Subject: Acceptance of Grant funds for Commission on the Status of Women Julia Tuttle Statue Project
Purpose of Item:
A resolution of the Miami City Commission accepting a grant in the amount of $40,000 from the
Miami -Dade County Commission for Women. The proceeds from the grant will be used towards the
City of Miami's Commission on the Status of Women, Julia Tuttle Statue Project.
Background Information:
The City of Miami Commission on the Status of Women (MCOSW) initiated Julia Tuttle Statue
Project during Miami's Centennial Celebration. The MCOSW has since been working with the
Miami -Dade County Commission for Women to raise funds, create a design, and locate a suitable site
for the statue which is now planned to be erected on the Miami River.
City of Miami Resolution 07-0165 requires Commission approval for any grant award and any grant
agreement over the amount of $25,000, in order to implement said grant.
