HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 07-00923 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING A GRANT AWARD FROM THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN, IN THE AMOUNT OF $40,000, TO THE CITY OF MIAMI COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN, FOR THE JULIA TUTTLE STATUE PROJECT, WHICH IS TO BE ERECTED ON THE MIAMI RIVER IN MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Commission on the Status of Women ("CMCSW") has been awarded a grant in the amount of $40,000, from the Miami -Dade County Commission on the Status of Women ("MDCCSW") for the funding of the Julia Tuttle Statue Project; and WHEREAS, the CMCSW initiated the Julia Tuttle Statue Project during the City of Miami's ("City") centennial celebration and has jointly worked with the MDCCSW to raise funds to create, design and find a location for the statue, which is now the Miami River; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 07-0165, adopted March 22, 2007, requires City Commission approval for any grant award exceeding $25,000; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A grant award from the MDCCSW, in the amount of $40,000, to the CMCSW, for the Julia Tuttle Statue Project, which is to be erected on the Miami River, in Miami, Florida, is accepted. Section 3. The City Manager or his designee is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents to implement acceptance of said grant award. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: JORGEL. ERNANDEZ CITY\ATT RNEY N City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 7/6/2007 File Number: 07-00923 Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
