INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
To: Honorable Members of the
City Commission
From: Priscilla A. Thompson
City Clerk
Date: June 19, 2007
Subject: Code Enforcement Board
References: July 10, 2007 Agenda
Enclosures: List of members
The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding
whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance.
Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be
residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the
board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a
subcontractor, and a realtor.
Two (2) appointments are needed at this time:
• Chairman Gonzalez has one (1) nomination for a regular seat held by Maritza Alvarez,
incumbent, who has exceeded the number of allowed absences (6 absences in 2007) and
would require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance.
• Commissioner Regalado has one (1) nomination for a regular seat held by Hugh Ryan,
incumbent, who has exceeded the number of allowed absences (4 in 2007) and would
require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance.
For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy
of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the July 10, 2007,
2007 Commission agenda.
