Subject: To authorize execution of a Joint Participation Agreement ("JPA") with Miami -Dade County
for the Venetian Causeway Streetscape Improvements Project B-39911.
Purpose of Item:
Authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Miami Dade -County (County) providing
City resources to partially fund street improvements along the Venetian Causeway which crosses
Biscayne Bay between the City of Miami on the mainland and the City of Miami Beach. The County
will oversee the work.
Background Information:
The City of Miami has allocated $1,900,000 from the Street Bonds Program in FY 2009-10 for the
construction of the Venetian Causeway Streetscape Improvement Project B-39911. The attached Joint
Participation Agreement (JPA) has been negotiated between the City and the County to outline the
details of the responsibilities of both parties and is necessary in order to transfer the funds. This
resolution will commit the funds to the County for the year 2009-2010. The County requires evidence of
the funds at this time so they can begin their procurement process.
