HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133. www.miamigov.com File Number: 07-00808 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), BY A FOUR -FIFTHS (415THS) AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, RATIFYING, APPROVING, AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S FINDING OF AN EMERGENCY; WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING PROCEDURES, PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-90 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PURCHASE ORDER TO RUSSELL BUILDING MOVERS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $17,232.40, FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE STRUCTURAL SUPPORTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING RENTED AND THE AMOUNT OF $9,730 FOR THE RENTAL OF THE STEEL BEAMS, FROM DECEMBER, 2006 THROUGH JULY, 2007, FOR A TOTAL PURCHASE ORDER AMOUNT OF $26,962.40; ALLOCATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $20,000, FROM B-30273 AND THE AMOUNT OF $6,962.40, FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATIONS'S SPECIAL REVENUE ACCOUNT. WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation assumed the responsibility of the Seybold Canal House from the Spring Garden Civic Association in November, 2006; and WHEREAS, the Spring Garden Civic Association was renting the equipment required to structurally support the building ("Equipment") at $40, per day; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation assumed responsibility for therental of the Equipment in November, 2006; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami determined that the Equipment should be purchased in lieu of a daily rental fee until such time as funds could be obtained for restoration of the building; and WHEREAS, Russell Building Movers, who owns the Equipment, provide a price quote of $17,232.40; and WHEREAS, removal of the Equipment will result in the collapse of the building; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has incurred $9,730, in rental costs from December, 2006 through July, 2007; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. By a four -fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote, the City Manager's finding of an emergency, City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 6/15/2007 File Number: 07-00808 waiving competitive bidding procedures, pursuant to Section 18-90 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, is ratified, approved, and confirmed, and the issuance of a purchase order to Russell Building Movers, in the amount of $17,232.40, for the purchase of the structural supports that are currently being rented and the amount of $9,730, for the rental of the steel beams, from December, 2006 through July, 2007, for a total purchase order amount of $26,962.40, is approved, with funds in the amount of $20,000, allocated from B-30273 and the amount of $6,962.40, allocated from the Department of Parks and Recreations's Special Revenue account. Section 3.
