Subject: Creating a Special Revenue Fund for Sustainable Initiatives and accepting a contribution of
$35,500.
Purpose of Item:
The recently created Office of Sustainable Initiatives (MSI) will rely highly on donations from
various private, local, state and federal sources. This resolution creates a Special Revenue Fund that
will enable MSI to accept and appropriate said donations. It also accepts and appropriates a donation
from Ecomedia in the sum of $35,500.
Background Information:
On April26th, 2007, by ordinance # 12910, the Office of Sustainable Initiatives was created. This
resolution will enable MS1 to accept monetary donations from various sources. It also accepts and
appropriates a donation from Ecomedia in the sum of $35,500 to be used for tree planting, waterway
cleanup and environmental projects. This fund will allow for educational programs for various
initiatives that MSI will be hosting as well as special projects including tree plantings in the City of
Miami.
