HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 07-00855 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, CONSISTING OF A DONATION FROM ECOMEDIA, IN THE AMOUNT OF $35,500, AND DONATIONS FROM VARIOUS PRIVATE, LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL SOURCES, TO SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI ON BEHALF OF THE MIAMI OFFICE OF SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES, TO ACCEPT MONETARY DONATIONS TO BE DEPOSITED IN SAID FUND. WHEREAS, during the past five (5) years the City of Miami ("City") has launched a comprehensive and aggressive environmental program to clean streets, waterways, brownsfields, storm drains, and improve air and water quality, thus reversing decades of environmental neglect; and WHEREAS, a donation of $35,500, has been given by Ecomedia for various environmental programs; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 12910, adopted April 26, 2007, the City Commission approved the creation of the Miami Office of Sustainable Initiatives ("MSI"); and WHEREAS, the City will aggressively seek contributions for a variety of sustainable initiatives, including but not limited to tree plantings, environmental outreach and education, waterways protection, promotion of alternative energy, etc.; and WHEREAS, MSI is requesting the City Commission to authorize the City to create a Special Revenue Fund for the collection of monetary donations; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are'adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: RESOURCES: APPROPRIATION: Sustainable Initiatives Ecomedia $35,500 Various private, local, state and federal sources Unlimited Costs associated with the daily Operations of the Office of Sustainable Initiatives Unlimited City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 6/20/2007 File Number: 07-00855 Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1) APPR JORG CITY TO FORM AN CORRECTNESS:# ERNANDEZ RNEY Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
