Purpose of Item: A resolution qualifying Southwest Transports, Inc., d/b/a Westbrook Motors, Inc., for the provision of towing services for Police/Fire Dispatched Towing and Wrecker services for private vehicles, and towing of city -owned, leased, or rented vehicles, for the Department of Police and General Services Administration, authorized pursuant to Resolution No. 06-0043, adopted on January 26, 2006; authorizing the City Manager to execute a Towing/Wrecker agreement, in substantially the attached form, with said firm, for a three-year period, with the option to extend for two (2) additional one-year periods, and further authorizing the City Manager to add qualified towing firms to the contract at any time should it be in the City's best interest without any further City Commission action. Director Chief =.� City Manager Page 1 of 1 AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM (CONTINUED) Background Information: On January 26, 2006, the Miami City Commission adopted Resolution No. 06-0043, accepting the recommendation of the City Manager to approve the findings of the Evaluation Committee pursuant to Request for Qualifications No. 04-05-054R, that the firms most qualified to provide towing services for Police/Fire Dispatched Towing and Wrecker Services for private vehicles, and towing , of city -owned, leased, or rented vehicles, for the Departments of Police and General Services Administration are: Midtown Towing of Miami, Inc., Nu -Way Towing Services, Inc., Downtown Towing Company, Blanco Towing, Inc., d/b/a Freeway Towing, Diaz Towing, Inc., Banos Towing Services Corp., Molina Towing, Inc., and Ted & Stans Towing Service, Inc.; and further authorized the City Manager to execute a Towing/Wrecker Agreement, with said firms for a three-year period, with the option to extend for two (2) additional one-year periods, for an initial annual amount not to exceed $182,000; allocating funds from the General Operating Budget of the Department of Police, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.270, in an annual amount not to exceed $100,000; and from the General Operation Budget of the General Services Administration, Account Code No. 5030001.420905.6.340, in an annual amount not to exceed $82,000, with future fiscal year funding, subject only to budgetary approval; and It is in the City's best interest to add Southwest Transport, Inc., d/b/a Westbrook Motors, Inc., to the qualified list of firms to provide towing services, and to authorize the City Manager to execute a Towing/Wrecker Agreement, with Southwest Transports, Inc., d/b/a Westbrook Motors, Inc., for a three-year period, with the option to extend for two (2) additional one-year periods. The City Manager reserves the right to add additional qualified towing firms to the contract at any time should it be in the City's best interest without any further City Commission action. 1
