Timoney Chief of Police, Miami Police Department I am writing to provide you with an update on exciting developments with GILEE and ILEE. A description of program highlights for 2006 is enclosed, as well as a cumulative listing of sponsors since the program's inception. None of the program's activities and accomplishments to date would be possible without the support of our sponsors including our corporate partners, the law enforcement community, friends, GILEE graduates, host countries, and Georgia State University. GILEE & ILEE have a measurable impact and the demand for our programs continues to grow in Georgia, around the nation and the world. In 2006 we offered a total of 11 programs and 2007 promises to be even busier! In order to ensure the future of this vital enterprise, an effort was launched in 2004 to endow a Chair in Public Safety Partnerships at Georgia State University. The goal was to raise $1,000,000 towards the endowment. We expect to formally announce the establishment of the endowed chair later this year! Although an endowment will secure the future of the program, the funds generated annually will only provide about 20% of the amount needed per year to maintain current programming level. The cost per participant is approximately $6,000, and we have an average of 40 delegates per year. Therefore, it is critical that we continue our annual fund-raising efforts. Our goal for 2007 is to raise $500,000, of which $250,000 is for annual operating expenses and $250,000 is to establish a reserve fund for advanced program planning and special initiatives, such as international conferences. Please take a moment to review the enclosed information and consider making a gift in support of GILEE this year. Checks may be made payable to "Georgia State University Foundation." Credit cards are also accepted, and I have attached the appropriate form for your convenience. You can also give securely on-line at http://www2.gsu.edu/—wwwg.iv/give/online.html (check "OTHER" and specify "for GILEE"). All contributions to GILEE through the Georgia State University Foundation are fully tax-deductible as provided by law. On behalf of GILEE and ILEE, thank you for your generosity and ongoing commitment to this program. Your participation truly makes a difference.
