HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 07-00407 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE CITY MANAGER APPROVING THE FINDINGS OF THE EVALUATION COMMITTEE, PURSUANT TO REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL NO. 05-06-054, THAT THE TOP -RANKED FIRM, FOR THE FOOD AND BEVERAGE CONCESSION AGREEMENT OF THE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY KNOWN AS THE MIAMI RIVERSIDE CENTER LOCATED AT 444 SOUTHWEST 2ND AVENUE, MIAMI FLORIDA, IS KARLEN FOODS, INC., D/B/A TROPICS CATERING; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONCESSION AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, a Request for Proposals ("RFP") was issued for the purpose of soliciting proposals from qualified individuals, corporations, or other legal associations interested in managing and operating a food and beverage concession, for a term of three (3) years, with an option to renew for one (1) additional three (3) year period, at the Miami Riverside Center located at 444 Southwest 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, the RFP was issued on March 24, 2006, for the management and operation of a food and beverage concession for the Miami Riverside Center; and WHEREAS, the City Manager appointed an Evaluation Committee to review and evaluate proposals received in response to the Request for Proposals; and WHEREAS, the Evaluation Committee recommended that the City of Miami ("City") negotiate and execute the attached Concession Agreement with the top ranked firm, Karlen Foods, Inc. d/b/a Tropics Catering; and WHEREAS, in the event that the City is unable to consummate an agreement with Karlen Foods, Inc. d/b/a Tropics Catering, the Evaluation Committee shall be reconvened for the purpose of evaluating whether to proceed with the remaining two proposals or reject each and/or issue a new RFP; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in the Section. Section 2. The recommendation of the City Manager approving the findings of the Evaluation Committee that the top -ranked firm, pursuant to RFP No. 05-06-054, for the food and beverage Concession Agreement of the City -owned property known as Miami Riverside Center, located at 444 Southwest 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida, is Karlen Foods, Inc. d/b/a Tropics Catering, is accepted. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute a Concession Agreement, in substantially the attached form, with the for said purpose. Section 4. FE ANDEZ CITY AT'.sR Y Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
