of the City of Miami Parks and Public Spaces Master as a
guiding tool for the future development and preservation of
the City's Parks and Public Spaces as envisioned in the
Miami 21 initiatives.

PETITION
Consideration of a resolution of the Miami City Commission,
approving in principle the Miami Parks and Public Spaces Master
Plan, dated May 2007, here and after referred to as the "Miami
Parks and Public Spaces Master Plan", ("plan"), as a guiding tool
for the future development and preservation of City's Parks and
Public Spaces as envisioned in the Miami 21 initiatives;
containing a repealer provision and a severability clause; and
providing for an effective date.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, APPROVING IN PRINCIPLE
THE MIAMI PARKS AND PUBLIC SPACES MASTER PLAN, DATED MAY ,2007,
HERE AND AFTER REFERRED TO AS THE "MIAMI PARKS AND PUBLIC SPACES
MASTER PLAN", ("PLAN"), AS A GUIDING TOOL FOR THE FUTURE
DEVELOPMENT AND PRESERVATION OF CITY'S PARKS AND PUBLIC SPACES
AS ENVISIONED IN THE MIAMI 21 INITIATIVES.
WHEREAS, in MAY of 2007, the Miami Parks and Public Spaces Master
Plan ("Plan") was completed by Goody Clancy and Associates for the City of
Miami, Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, on May 16, 2007, the Planning Advisory Board, by a vote of
to ( - ), recommended approval of the final draft of the Plan,
attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Planning recommended approval of the
attached Plan; which sets short and long term goals that will direct the City Of
Miami Parks and Recreation Department into a premier parks system by
providing a framework in the areas of maintenance, building design, program and
staff management and operations that will propel them towards becoming a 21st
century park system as envisioned in the Miami 21 initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the herein Resolution has been the subject of a properly
advertised public hearing before the City Commission;
Section 1. The recitals and findings set forth in the preamble of this
resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this section.
Section 2. On May 16, 2007, the Planning Advisory Board, by a vote of
to ( - ), recommended approval of the final draft of the Plan,
attached hereto
Section 3. The Department of Planning recommended approval of the
attached Plan; which sets short and long term goals that will direct the City Of
Miami Parks and Recreation Department into a premier parks system by
providing a framework in the areas of maintenance, building design, program and

staff management and operations that will propel them towards becoming a 21st

Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1}

{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of
ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this
Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City
Commission.
