A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, APPROVING, IN
PRINCIPLE, THE MIAMI PARKS AND PUBLIC SPACES MASTER PLAN, DATED
MAY, 2007, AS A GUIDING TOOL. FOR THE FUTURE DEVELOPMENT AND
PRESERVATION OF CITY OF MIAMI PARKS AND PUBLIC SPACES AS
ENVISIONED IN THE MIAMI 21 INITIATIVE.
WHEREAS, in MAY of 2007, the Miami Parks and Public Spaces Master Plan ("Plan")
was completed by Goody Clancy and Associates for the City of Miami, Department of Parks
and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Planning Advisory Board considered this item at its May 2, 2007
meeting, Item No. and by a vote of _ to has recommended the adoption of this item to the
City of Miami City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Planning recommended approval of the attached Plan;
which sets short and long term goals that will direct the City Of Miami Parks and Recreation
Department into a premier parks system by providing a framework in the areas of
maintenance, building design, program and staff management and operations that will propel
them towards becoming a 21 st century park system as envisioned in the Miami 21 initiatives;
and
WHEREAS, the herein Resolution has been the subject of a properly advertised public
hearing before the City Commission;
Section 1. The recitals and findings set forth in the preamble of this resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this section.
Section 2. The Department of Planning recommended approval of the attached Plan; which
sets short and long term goals that will direct the City Of Miami Parks and Recreation
Department into a premier parks system by providing a framework in the areas of
maintenance, building design, program and staff management and operations that will propel
them towards becoming a 21st century park system as envisioned in the Miami 21 initiatives
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

Footnotes
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
