Dear Chairman Gonzalez:
This letter serves as the Miami River Commission's (MRC) "official
statement" to all City Commissioners, requested in City Resolution 00-
320, regarding April 26, 2007 City Commission agenda items PZ. 6-10,
which impact the Miami River.
On November 6, 2006, Mr. Simon Ferro, Greenberg Traurig, presented
"River's Edge", which requires a Major Use Special Permit, including
a land use and zoning amendment from Industrial and High -Density
Multi -Family Residential to General Commercial and Restricted
Commercial located at 201, 216-220, 243, 250 and 1020 NW South
River Drive & 601, 609, 615 and 619 NW 2nd Street.
The MRC found the proposal to be consistent with the Miami River
Corridor Urban Infill Plan's recommendations for this "Lower River"
section in a vote of 6-4, as it includes a publicly accessible riverwalk.
