HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 07-00560 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MiAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $250,000, PREVIOUSLY ALLOCATED TO THE CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT; ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS, TO THE CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT 5 BUSINESS CORRIDOR COMMERCIAL EXPANSION AND REHABILITATION PROJECT AS DESCRIBED iN "EXHIBIT A," ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, TO BE USED FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE EXTERIOR OF COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS THAT WILL RESULT iN THE CREATION OF JOBS FOR LOW TO MODERATE INCOME INDIVIDUALS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 04-0378, adopted June 10, 2004, the City Commission allocated a total of $250,000 of 30th Year Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") Program funds to the City of Miami Department of Economic Development for economic development and/or public facilities and improvement activities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 04-0734, adopted November 18, 2004, the City Commission established a new special revenue fund entitled: "Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Reclaim the Dream Initiative Fund" for economic efforts along Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 05-0682, adopted November 17, 2005, the City Commission authorized the extension and rollover of funds of previously approved activities/projects that were not completed; and WHEREAS, the administration recommends the transfer of CDBG Program funds, in an amount not to exceed $250,000, previously allocated to the Department of Economic Development and the reallocation of said funds to the City of Miami Department of Community Development District 5 Business Corridor Commercial Expansion and Rehabilitation Project, to be used for the rehabilitation of the exterior of commercial buildings that will result in the creation of jobs for low to moderate income individuals; NOW, THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The transfer of CDBG Program funds, in an amount not to exceed $250,000, previously allocated to Department of Economic Development and the allocation of said funds to the City of Miami Department of Community Development District 5 Business Corridor Commercial Expansion City of Miami Page I of 2 Printed On: 5/1/207 File Number. 07-00560 and Rehabilitation Project, to be used for the rehabilitation of the exterior of commercial buildings that will result in the creation of jobs for low to moderate income individuals, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized(1) to execute the necessary documents, for said purpose. Section 4. FERNAND i.“1,Li ITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
