It is recommended that the Honorable Mayor and City Commission approve this re�'°'�' solution to accept a
grant award in the amount not to exceed $339,675 ($113,225 per year for three years) for the
department of NET. This award will allow NET to hire nine (9) full time Americorps Members each
year for three years to provide disaster preparedness and response to the underserved citizens of the
City of Miami. It further authorizes the required match of "in -kind" services from NET totaling
$280,331 (93,443.66 per year).
Background Information:
Americorps is a national program funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service
and provides opportunities for citizens to dedicate a year of services to their community. In
December of 2006, the City of Miami responded to a request for proposals requesting funds to
provide emergency disaster readiness and response to its citizens. In February of 2007, the City of
Miami was noticed that they were awarded funds for these services for three years. This resolution
authroizes the acceptance and allocation of said award.
