Hernandez, City Manager RR/dp SUBMITTED INTO THE PUBLIC RECORD FOR ITEM cps ON ; -io -07. o 1- 0094,1 City of Miami Legislation Resolution substitute item-CA.1 May 10, 2007 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 07-00544 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "AMERICORPS COMMUNITY EMERGENCY SUPPORT (ACES)" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM VOLUNTEER FLORIDA, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $339,675, FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS ($113,225 PER YEAR), FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT TEAM ("NET"); AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI'S REQUIRED MATCH OF $280,331, ($93,443.66 PER YEAR), FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF NET, IN THE FORM OF IN -KIND SERVICES; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has a strong interest in providing emergency disaster readiness and relief to its residents; and i CAS the submi ted a three (3) -year refit aplioation to Volur Leer-F--for-ida to provide funding for nine (9) full time Americorps members each year for three years to conduct activities that will enhance the City's disaster readiness and response efforts ("Project"); and WHEREAS, on February 26, 2007, the City's Department of Neighborhood Enhancement Team ("NET") was noticed that the Project was approved and awarded to the City; and WHEREAS, the City was awarded 5113,225, per year, for a period of three years, for a total of $339,675, from Volunteer Florida to provide activities related to emergency disasters; and WHEREAS, the City's NET will match this award with in -kind services in the amount of $93,443.66, per year for a total of $280,331; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents to implement the acceptance of said grant award. Section 4. NANDEZ 19A 71"1 CITY /IfOjNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from thedateit was passed and adopted.
