Subject: A resolution of the Miami City Commission authorizing the City Manager to accept a donation
of a plaque and a bust commemorating the heroism of Dr. Lucia Lorenzo
Purpose of Item:
To accept a donation of a plaque and bust monument from the, "Dr. Lucia Lorenzo Foundation", to
the City of Miami ("City') to be located within or around the plaza that is currently under construction
located on South Miami Avenue and Southeast 15th Road/Entrance of Simpson Park Property at no
cost to the City, having an estimated appraised value of approximately $30,000.
Background Information:
On December 28, 2004, the City of Miami pledged to the Dr. Lucia Lorenzo Foundation that the City
would place monuments) at the intersection of Southeast 15th Road and South Miami
Avenue/entrance of Simpson Park, honoring Dr. Lucia Lorenzo's heroism. Now that the project is
under construction, the City is following up on its commitment by accepting the donation of the
plaque and bust which are to be placed at or around this location upon completion of this project.
