Subject: A resolution directing the City Manager to develop an Ordinance for establishing a Greenspace
utility program.
Purpose of Item:
A resolution of the City of Miami Commission directing the City Manager to develop an ordinance
establishing a greenspace utility program. This program will provide dedicated funding for the
maintenance and management of all greenspace within the City boundaries.
Background Information:
The Florida legislature has determined that municipalities may create a fund that can be used for the
maintenance and protection of our urban forests and greenspace. This resolution will direct the City
Manager to develop an Ordinance to provide dedicated funding for the management of the city's
greenspaces. This Ordinance will be developed by City staff within 60 days.
