Subject: Resolution Awarding a Bid Contract to Purchase Vehicles, Sports Utility Vehicles, and Trucks,
including Hybrids (Green Procurement)
Purpose of Item:
The nature of this item is to establish a term contract for the purchase of Fleet Vehicles -Citywide from
various vendors for an initial contract period of one (1) year with the option to renew for two 0
additional one-year periods, allocating funds from the various sources of funds of the user department,
subject to the availability of funds and budgetary approval at time of need. In support of the "Green
Initiatives" spearheaded by the Mayor and the City Commission, this is the first time in the City's
history that this bid includes hybrid vehicles.
Background Information:
The Department of Purchasing in conjunction with the General Services Administration has identified
a need to establish a citywide contract for the purchase of Fleet Vehicles -Citywide. On February 20,
2007, the Purchasing Department issued Bid Number 17007 (05-06-106), As required by the
Procurement Code, the Invitation for Bid (IFB) was advertised, and approximately over sixty (60)
vendors were notified for of the bid via on-line. Bids were due and four (4) bids were received on
March 7, 2007. It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission award the bid to the various
vendors who submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid, whose base price, when combined
with the options selected, represents the lowest total cost.
