Subject: Memorandum of Agreement with Miami Dade County
Purpose of Item:
It is respectfully recommended that the Honorable Mayor and City Commission adopt the attached
resolution to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with Miami Dade County. Said Agreement
outlines the duties and responsibilities of the county and the city with respect to an urban ecosystem
analysis. It further authorizes the payment of $15,732 from the Tree Trust Fund to the County for the
City's portion of an Urban Ecosystem analysis contracted by the County to American Forests.
Background Information:
The city is concerned that recent losses in tree cover due to hurricanes and citrus canker have had a
negative impact on the green infrastructure. Both the City and the County wish to facilitate an
ecosystem analysis to develop a series of green infrastructure data layers, American Forests has been
determined by the county as a sole source for such analysis and whereas the state is providing $60,000
to offset the cost ($158,000) of this countywide analysis. The City and the County have agreed that
the City's portion of said analysis shall be $15,732.
