A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A CITY
COMMISSION POLICY GOVERNING THE DONATION OF BICYCLES
PREVIOUSLY ISSUED FOR INDIVIDUAL USE BY SWORN PERSONNEL OF THE
MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARDS AND
CRITERIA AS STATED HEREIN, REGARDING SUCH DONATION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Miami City Commission establishes a policy concerning the donation of bicycles
previously issued for individual use by sworn personnel of the Miami Police Department, by the City of
Miami ("City"), which policy supercedes any administrative policy in conflict with the herein stated
policy ("Policy").
Section 2. The purpose of the Policy is to recognize the meritorious service of the City police
officers who have dedicated a substantial portion of their life to helping the citizens of the City by
maintaining the good order of society within the City.
Section 3. In order to improve the morale of sworn City police personnel and thereby contribute to
community civic progress, the City Manager shall implement the following policy:
"Henceforth, subject to applicable law and with the concurrence
of the Chief Procurement Officer, bicycles which have been
issued to sworn personnel of the Police Department for their
individual use,are to be made available as a donation at no
cost to such personnel on the date of their retirement under
honorable conditions as determined by the Chief of Police;
provided, that such personnel shall have qualified for service,
early service, Rule of 64, ordinary disability or service incurred
disability retirement."
Section 4. The City Commission categorizes all bicycles issued to sworn personnel of the Police
Department retiring under honorable conditions, as Category "A" stock, pursuant to Section 18-82 of
the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and the signature
of the Mayor.{1}

Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
