JUSTIFICATION:
In an effort to contain rising overtime costs, the Miami -Dade County Association of Chiefs of
Police, along with the State Attorney's Office, instituted the "County Court Standby Program".
Officers are notified of being placed on a "standby" basis and will only be called when needed.
HOW IS THIS ITEM GOING TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF SERVICE TO THE
CUSTOMER / CITIZENS?
This program has dramatically reduced court overtime costs for all law enforcement agencies.
Since the program's implementation in 1997, our department has reduced overtime costs by
56%, from $2,077,958 (FY '97) to $941,447 (FY '06).
