HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Discussion Item City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 07-01042 Final Action Date: A DISCUSSION OF MIAMI CITY COMMISSION REGARDING A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), APPROVING THE PROPOSED BUDGET FOR THE CIVILIAN INVESTIGATIVE PANEL, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,106,561, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING OCTOBER 1, 2007 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2008. WHEREAS, the City of Miami approved and adopted the Civilian Investigative Panel ("CIP") pursuant to Ordinance No. 12188; and WHEREAS, the CIP serves as an independent citizens' oversight with authority to conduct investigations related to allegations of police misconduct, reviews policies of the Department of Police and is empowered to issue subpoenas for police related investigations; and WHEREAS, Section 11.5-10 of Ordinance No. 12188, requires that a budget, pertaining to the management, operations, maintenance and capital expenditures for the CIP, be approved by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the CIP adopted the attached annual plan and budget for the Fiscal Year commencing October 1, 2007, and ending September 30, 2008; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The proposed budget of the CIP, attached and incorporated, for the Fiscal Year commencing October 1, 2007, and ending September 30, 2008, is approved. Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: JORGE L.
