Purpose of Item:
The administration recommends that the Miami City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the City Manager to execute a Grant of Easement on City -owned property located on
Watson Island, Miami, Florida, in substantially the attached form, to Florida Power & Light
Company, a Florida Corporation ("FPL"), of a ten (10) foot wide strip by approximately nine hundred
eighty four (984) feet running east/west, and a ten (10) foot wide strip by approximately two hundred
forty seven (247) feet running north/south, utility easement, as more particularly described in Exhibit
"A" attached hereto and made a part hereof, for a perpetual non-exclusive easement on the property,
for the construction, operation and maintenance of electric facilities and vault, with the right to
reconstruct, improve, change and remove all or any of the facilities within the easement.

SUPPLEMENTAL SHEET
Subject: Resolution Granting an Easement to Florida Power & Light on Watson Island
Background Information:
The City Commission approved the plat for the southwest side of Watson Island on October 12, 2006,
Resolution No. 06-0608 entitled "Watson Island Southwest". As part of the plat requirements an
easement must be provided for each of the existing utilities. Florida Power & Light ("FPL") has
requested the grant of a ten (10) foot wide strip easement running approximately nine -hundred and
eighty four (984) feet east/west along the entire length of the island and a ten (10) foot wide strip by
approximately two hundred forty seven (247) feet running north/south on City -owned property for the
construction, operation and maintenance of electric utility facilities to be installed in connection with
the development on Watson Island. This easement will be used for the construction, operation, and
maintenance of electrical power with the right to reconstruct, improve, and change and remove such
facilities or any of the facilities within the easement with full right of ingress thereto and egress
therefrom.
This easement shall further contain a reverter provision that if the easement is abandoned or
Idiscontinued, the easement shall cease and revert back to the City.
