Dear Ms. Robinson:
I am pleased to support the City of Miami's grant application to The Children's .Trust
"Prevention Services for Children Birth to Five" for development and implementation of the
Cite of Miami Families First — Parent Academy.
The City of Miami seeks funding to improve maternal -infant health outcomes and facilitate early
developmental skills in infants and young children within the neighborhoods of Little Haiti and
Over -town. Furthermore, with The Parent Academy, Sant 1_a, Miami -Dade Family Learning
Partnership, Healthy Start Coalition of Miami Dade, and WLRN Ready to Learn, we are
supporting positive child development and school readiness by engaging parents and care givers
in their children's education.
The aim of my off -ice is to create a system of support for the community and to enhance the
community's ability to utilize the city's infrastructure effectively. Linked to this general mission
is a clear focus on youth development. The City of Miami's mission is to be an international city
which embodies diversity, economic opportunity, effective customer service and a highly -rated
quality of life. it is the Office of the Mayor's top priority to do everything possible to assist City
of Miami residents with their most basic needs: better education, improved neighborhoods, and
accessible resources. The City of Miami Families First — Parent Academy proposes to
accomplish these needs through collaborative effort aimed at enhancing overall parental
involvement.
1 urge The Children's Trust to fund this important proposal. Please feel free to contact nee
concerning my support of this project. Thank you for your time and consideration.
