has served as the Dean of he Parent Academy since August, 2005 Her previous
experience includes Vice Principal at William H Turner Technical Arts High School,
Assistant Principal at Fienberg/Fisher Adult Education Center. Robert Morgan Education
Center and The English Center She taught Family & Consumer Science courses at
Miami Senior High School and Allapattah Middle School She has served as Interim
Slate Executive Director of Florida FHA/HERO, Inc , a Career and Technical Student
Organization (CTSO), and ,wrote curriculum materials for the ARIS E. Foundation She

She has been a conference presenter at the Florida Literacy Coalition Annual
Conference, the ACE of Florida Annual Conference, and the National Conference on
Family Literacy. She is currently active in efforts to improve her neighborhood's public
elementary school, an initiative that began nearly four years ago
Her awards include Adult and Community Educators of Florida (ACE) 2001
Administrator of the Year, Miami -Dade County Public Schools' 2001 Assistant Principal
of Inc Year, and the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences 1996
National New Achiever's Award. She also received the EarthVVatch Education Award to
work on a Solar Oven Project team in Lombok, Indonesia
Sandy earned her bachelor's degree in Home Economics Education from The Ohio
State University, Columbus, Ohio, a master's degree in Computer Science Education
from Barry University, and completed the Educational Leadership certificate program at
Florida International University. She attended two seminars at Harvard's Principals'
Center Summer Institute, including The Art & Craft of the Principalship, and Leadership,
An Evolving Vision. Sandy and her husband, Ary, have two children, Emma and Julian
