Dear Miami Learning Zone Students and Parents:
Welcome back! A new school year has
started again and our Miami Learning Zone pro-
gram at Holmes Elementary School is in full swing.
I would like to thank 21' Century Community
Learning Centers and the Children's Trust for
providing the funding to make this program possible. I would also like
to congratulate Ms. Williams and the entire Holmes Elementary
family on demonstrating such great gains on the FCAT.
Our Miami Learning Zone program has been offering after -
school care, snacks, FCAT enrichment tutoring, art, dance, and music
classes, sports and recreational activities, and legal services for all
parents since last year. Best of all these services are completely
free. This year we have some great additions to our program: field
trips, parent workshops, science classes, and school -based mentoring
in which 60 children will be placed with a mentor through Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami. All these services will
continue to be free as well.
I encourage all Miami Learning Zone parents to become
involved in this unique and exciting opportunity to benefit your child's
education. The Miami Learning Zone is your program, make the most
of it.
