Using a combination of structured lessons, experiential learning and on-the-)Cb experiences, the Digital Connectors program trains and emoroys young people, between tie ages of 14 and 21 who live in disadvantaged neghborhGOCS, to promote and support the adoption ,'and use of technology among tram;tics and individuals in their communities i he Digital Connectors receive training and service opportunities in the areas of technotedy Instruction, technical support and 5Cluttons. digital media, workforce readiness and ieaderSt,Ip develociirent. Digital Conmectors are also introduced 10 the broader objectives of One Economy so that they can better understand and fulfill their tole as technology ambassadors Structured training is complemented by participants' exposure to careers and higher education via site visits to area companies and university campuses, and, participants' involvement in service learning projects with businesses, community -based crganizatrons and community technology centers 'i he Digital Connectors are trained to connect local residents to technology and greater economic, opportunities via the Beehive website (www beehiveM,ami org), collect community data to create more localized neighborhood Beehive websiles, develop and post relevant online content for their neighborhoods, provide Support to One Economy's local demonstration program, train and mentor other youth to serve as Digital Connectors, and, help expand the program to other parts of their community and the oily The activities of the Digital Connectors are project -driven and oriented tnwaid service Projects are defined by clear objectives and a finite project period, and are designed to connect low-income residents to the technology and the Beehive.
