Dear Ms. Logan:
1 am pleased to write this !et -ter of commitment !<t support of the City of l\'liarni•s application to
The Children's 'Trust for implementation of the 'Miami Youth Council, The proposal being
submitted ,.ill greatly benefit the students at ?,'i ami Edison Senior I-itgh School, .Miami Jackson
Senior High School, and Miami Senior High School.
As a proud Miami High graduate, who is blessed to no'v represent the part of the city in which
this historical institution is located, I am especially ent}tusitistic to secure this grant for the
diverse population at Miami l ligh, as well as Edison and Jackson.
Through the Miami Youth Council, the City -- in collaboration with Miami -Dade County Public
Schools and Florida International University -Metropolitan Center -- aims to improve youth civic
engagement, school involvement, and leadership development.
As a Miami City Commissioner for District 3, l recognize that youths who take an interest in
their community grow up to be participating adults in strengthening civil society Knowing the
best group to voice the concerns of young people is one composed of the young people
themselves,' believe the Miami Youth Council would be the ideal forum for students to express
their concerns and take action to correct acIdie:ss ahem
I look forward t6fi— a positive response from 1 he Children's 1 rust as It reviews the grant
application from the Cite of 1\liami.
