Miami Families First Academy
This memorandum socks your approval and the City Commission adoption by Resolution, of the
below-desurihed findings justifying the waiver of competitive procurement procedures and the
selection of the community -based organie,alion identified herein to organize family literacy events
and parent curriculum classes for the City of Miami Families First Parent Academy.
FINDINGS
•
Miami -Dade Family Learning Partnership has provided similar servictS for the same
communities for the Office of the Mayer through the Parent and Child Success
Academies,
• The City of Miami was awarded a grant from the Children's `(`rust to enhance parent
outreach services within the Little Haiti and Uvertown communities,
• Miami Dade Family Learning Partnership will enhance cornrnunity services already
provided with an increase of 250 parents/families .
• The Office of the Mayor has investigated and identified Miami -Dade Family Learning
Partnership as having excellent qualifications uniquely geared to the project for which
they are recommended, possessing substantial record of experience in programs similar
to the C'ity of Miami Families First Parent Academy.
• We find that it is practicable and most advantageous to the City to waive the
requirements for competitive sealed bid procedure provided in the code and engage
Miami -Dade Family Learning Partnership to provide services for the G'ity of Miami
Families First Parent Academy for an amount not to exceed 55,000.00 per year with an
option to renew for two additional one-year periods.
