HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-02146 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ACCEPTING TWO GRANT AWARDS, IN AN AGGREGATE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $750,000, FROM THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, FOR DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS, CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $250,000, FOR THE FAIRLAWN STORM SEWER PUMP STATION PROJECT -PHASE IIA, PROJECT B-50702 AND AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $500,000, FOR THE MIAMI FLAGAMIIWEST END STORM SEWERS IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT -PHASE II, PROJECT B-50695; ALLOCATING THE CITY OF MIAMI'S REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $250,000, FROM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM ("CIP") PROJECT NO. B-50702, AND THE AMOUNT OF $500,000, FROM CIP PROJECT NO. B-50695; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE STATE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AGREEMENTS, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ANY OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami's ("City") Department of Capital Improvements applied for two separate grants in December, 2005 from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection ("DEP"); and WHEREAS, the City was awarded $250,000, from DEP for drainage improvements for the Fairlawn Storm Sewer Pump Station Project -Phase IIA, B-50702 and an additional $500,000, for drainage improvements for the Miami Flagami/West End Storm Sewers Improvements Project -Phase 11, Project B-50695; and WHEREAS, the DEP awards must be formally accepted and require matching funds from the City; and WHEREAS, matching funds are available for both grants in a total amount not to exceed $750,000, consisting of $250,000, allocated from Capital Improvement Program ("CIP") Project No. B- 50702 for the Fairlawn Storm Sewer Pump Project -Phase IIA, and $500,000, allocated from CIP Project No. B-50695 for the Miami FlagamilWest End Storm Sewers Improvements Project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORI DA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Two grant awards, in an aggregate amount not to exceed $750,000, from the DEP, consisting of a grant award in an amount not to exceed $250,000, for the Fairlawn Storm Sewer Pump Station Project -Phase IIA, Project B-50702, and an amount not to exceed $500,000, for the Miami City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 12/1/2006 File Number: 06-02146 Flagami / West End Storm Sewers Improvements Project -Phase II, Project B-50695, are accepted. Section 3. The City's required matching funds are allocated in the amount of $250,000, from CIP Project No. B-50702 for the Fairlawn Storm Sewer Pump Project -Phase IIA, and the amount of $500,000, from CIP Project No. B-50695 for the Miami Flagami/West End Storm Sewers Improvements Project. Section 4. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the State Financial Assistance Agreements, in substantially the attached form, and any other necessary documents for said purpose. Section 5. F RNA D CITY ATTO NEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
