A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN
SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI
("CITY"), A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE, A
MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, TO SET FORTH THE PARAMETERS UNDER WHICH
THE CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE CAN ACCESS THE 800 MHZ TRUNKED RADIO
SYSTEM, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACCESSING THE COMMON TALK GROUPS
ESTABLISHED ON THE CITY'S RADIO SYSTEM TO RECEIVE THE PUBLIC
SAFETY BENEFIT OF INTEROPERABILITY.
WHEREAS, Section 163.01, Florida Statutes, permits public agencies, including those of Florida
municipal corporations, to enter into interlocal agreements to jointly exercise any power, privilege, or
authority which such agencies share in common and which each might exercise separately; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") and the City of Fort Lauderdale ("Fort Lauderdale"), both of
which are Florida municipal corporations, are continually identifying more effective service delivery
methods which result in the overall savings to the taxpayers; and
WHEREAS, it would be mutually beneficial for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager
to execute an Interlocal Agreement ("Agreement"), in substantially the attached form, between the
City, and the Fort Lauderdale to provide interoperability communications among public safety and
general government agencies for the purpose of providing mutual assistance, planning and executing
on -scene operations which are critical to the effective and efficient operations; and
WHEREAS, the Agreement sets forth the parameters under which all parties will provide
accessing features of the 800 MHZ trunked radio system and provide interoperability among these
public safety agencies and common talk groups of the City and Fort Lauderdale;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute an Agreement, in substantially the
attached form, between the City, a municipal corporation, and Fort Lauderdale, a municipal
corporation, to set forth the parameters under which Fort Lauderdale can access the 800 MHZ
Trunked Radio System, for the purpose of accessing the common talk groups established on the
City's radio system to receive the public safety benefit of interoperability as outlined in Section
163.01, Florida Statutes, permitting public agencies to enter into agreements to jointly exercise any
power, privilege or authority which such agencies share in common and which each might exercise
separately.

Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}
Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
