HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-01889 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $75,000, FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT-MIAMI RECOVERS PROGRAM; ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS TO PARTNERSHIP FOR RECOVERY, INC., TO ASSIST ELIGIBLE CITY OF MIAMI RESIDENTS DAMAGED BY THE 2005 HURRICANE SEASON, WITH ROOF REPAIRS AND ROOF REPLACEMENTS, AS SPECIFIED IN EXHIBIT "A," ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY NECESSARY DOCUMENTS WITH PARTNERSHIP FOR RECOVERY, INC., FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, on June 8, 2006, the City Commission directed the Administration to consider partnering with the Blue Roof program, exclusively for City of Miami ("City")residents and to report back with a proposal; and WHEREAS, Partnership for Recovery, Inc. ("PFR"), a not -for -profit organization, was created to assist low-income homeowners with repairs and roof replacement damaged by the 2005 hurricane season; and WHEREAS, the average cost to repair and/or replace a roof is $11,000 per roof; and WHEREAS, the City will contribute $2,500, per roof for eligible City residents and Miami -Dade County ("County") would contribute the difference to complete the repairs and/or roof replacement; and WHEREAS, the County has received and approved a total of thirty applications for City residents requesting said assistance; and WHEREAS, the Administration is requesting the transfer of funds, in the amount of $75,000, from the City's Department of Community Development -Miami Recovers Program and to allocate said funds to PFR to assist eligible City residents damaged by the 2005 hurricane season with roof repairs and/or roof replacement; and WHEREAS, said funds will be disbursed to said agency as roofs are completed and have passed inspection from the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. The transfer of funds, in the amount of $75,000, from the City's Department of Community Development -Miami Recovers Program and the allocation of said funds to PFR to assist eligible City residents damaged by the 2005 hurricane season with roof repairs and roof replacement,as specified in Exhibit "A," attached and incorporated, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute any necessary document with PFR, for said purpose. Section 4. TTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
