Subject: Resolution accepting an award of $35,744.00 for the Police Department
Purpose of Item:
It is respectfully recommended that the Honorable Mayor and the City Commission adopt the attached
resolution to accept and appropriate an award in the amount of $35,744.00 from the State of
Florida/Office of Atterney General/Division of Victims Services. This grant will provide funding for
the Miami Police Department to continue funding a temporary employee for the purpose of providing
victims advicate services. It will also allow for the purchase of one (1) laptop computer for said
employee.
Background Information:
On July 21, 2006, the Office of the Attorney General awarded the Miami Police Department $35,744
to continue to fund the hiring of one (1) temporary "Victim of Crime Advocate" position. Said grant
will consist of $33,244 for personnel costs and $2,500 for the purchase of one laptop computer for a
total of $35,744.
