A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW
SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "2006-2007 VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT" AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF
FLORIDA/OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL/DIVISION OF VICTIM
SERVICES, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE, IN THE AMOUNT OF $35,744;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT AND TO
EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF
SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has a strong interest in continuing to provide services to
victims of crimes at its current level; and
WHEREAS, the City submitted a grant application to the State of Florida requesting funding for
the purpose of continuing to hire a temporary employee titled "Victim of Crime Advocate" and also for
funding the purchase of a laptop for said employee; and
WHEREAS, the City received an award in the amount of $35,744, from the State of Florida; and
WHEREAS, any purchases would have to comply with applicable City Code purchasing
requirements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:
FUND TITLE: 2006-2007 Victims of Crime Act
RESOURCES: State of Florida, Office of the Attorney General $ 35,744
Division of Victim Services
APPROPRIATIONS: Victims Advocate Program $ 35,744
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents, to implement
acceptance of said grant.

Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}
Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
